MONDAY, JAN. 27
DISTURBANCES
• 8:17 p.m. — A man causing a commotion outside a downtown bar was calmed down and escorted back to the van from which he is living.
TUESDAY, JAN. 28
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
• 3:30 a.m. — A Pelham Road resident reported a man peeking into her window. Police found no evidence any prowler was in the vicinity as there were no footprints in the snow. Two days later, the resident called back to request assistance in searching a nearby barn where she said the man might be living. Police found the barn empty.
• 11:28 a.m. — A man who approached a Pondview Drive residence and asked questions of the resident was determined to be working for a home-delivered food service.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29
LARCENY
• 8:02 p.m. — An Amherst resident is out $280 after sending a money order to Puerto Rico to free her allegedly kidnapped brother. Police are reminding residents about continuing scams in which people get calls about a relative in distress in a foreign country.
SUNDAY, FEB. 2
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
• 3:41 p.m. — Several suspicious men smoking in an alleyway next to an East Pleasant Street business left before police got there.
FIGHTS
• 1:43 a.m. — Several college-age men fighting on North Pleasant Street, including one who was shirtless in spite of the cold temperatures, fled when police got there.
