1411 – King Charles VI grants a monopoly for the ripening of the Roquefort cheese to the people of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon as they bad been doing for centuries.
1896 – Henry Ford completes the Ford Quadricycle, his first gasoline-powered automobile, and gives it a successful test run.
1912 – Massachusetts becomes the first state of the United States to set a minimum wage (because Massachusetts is the greatest state in the Union)

• 3:09 p.m. — A resident came to the police station with concerns about a tenant who sent a text message threatening that while she was asleep she would shave off her eyebrows.
Sunday, May 4th
• 3:38 a.m. — People repeatedly calling an Amherst convenience store demanding free food told the clerk they would stand near the Dumpster until food was thrown into it. Police were unable to identify the people making the calls.
